Statement

As a hand-cut collage artist, I am drawn to vintage imagery and maps for the familiarity, nostalgia, and its connection to the past.. My work explores the relationship between memory, emotion, and a sense of place, in its visual storytelling and narratives.

My process begins with the search for materials and imagery in old books, magazines, found photographs, postcards, and maps. I carefully excavate, dissect, deconstruct, and layer these elements, transforming them into new compositions and narratives. By juxtaposing images from different eras and locations, I create unexpected relationships between seemingly unrelated elements, allowing the familiar to become something new. The resulting works often exist somewhere between the real and the surreal, past and present.

Many of my collages are rooted in New York City, a familiar landscape I call home and a source of inspiration. Others reflect a curiosity about the wider world and a desire to travel, explore, and discover different environments and cultures. My work is ultimately about the journey, through memory, time and geography .
